[ They had made a promise.

Otabek was going to wake up and wait for Yuri to get up a few hours later, and they were going to spend as much of the day skyping and face timing (if one of them had to go somewhere) as they possibly could. It was the only way they would have been able to spend Yuri's birthday together.

Or so Yuri thought, anyway.

It was probably a little bit cruel. Otabek wasn't online when Yuri woke up. Instead, he was making his way through customs, having taken a red eye flight to get to St. Petersburg as early in the morning as was feasible. The only thing he can hope is that Yuri won't be too upset with him.

Just in case, he picked up a bouquet of daffodils on the way to see him (with a vase; just in case Yuri didn't have one).

Otabek takes in a slow breath as he stares at the door in front of him before he finally lifts a hand to knock, his carry on beside him and flowers in hand. ]

[ They've been doing this... for a while now. Otabek can't remember when exactly they started to stay up all night to talk to each other, but he knows that it happened, when there are nights where his head doesn't hit the pillow until one in the morning. It's rough on his body to go to bed that late; he's up at six every day, regardless of how much sleep he gets, to go running. The extra late nights are rough, but... well, they're worth it, aren't they? He goes to bed feeling lighter than air.

That just means they have a good, solid friendship, right? Maybe even best friend levels? That's clearly all that means. He tries not to think about the thoughts and hopes that fill his mind once the computer is powered down and the lights are off. Those are for the night.

But it's time to settle in now. Otabek has Skype up and running, absently flicking through the TV as he waits for the familiar name to pop online. ]
